Memorial Day is a quintessential summer holiday, but amid the barbeques, pool parties, and fireworks celebrations, remind your worshipers to take time to remember what this holiday is all about—remembering the sacrifices made by so many of our fellow citizens so that we can enjoy the freedoms we do.
Father, in the name of Jesus, I pray for our country and for our people.
Impart wisdom and discernment to our elected leaders. Guide their decisions for the well-being of all people and for the good of your Church.
Protect those who serve in our military. May they always act honorably and with courage. Care for their families who endure separation and uncertainty.
Grant peace and unity where there is none. Work in the hearts of those who would stir up conflict and protect the innocent among us.
Sustain our cities, communities, and neighborhoods. Guide us to serve one another, committed both to freedom and responsibility.
Send your Holy Spirit on our nation’s churches so that, in unity, we may witness to your truth and faithfully carry out our Savior’s mission.
We lift our prayers to you, O God. Amen.
