What’s Your Biggest Problem?

By John Rasmussen

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses (Ephesians 1:7 ESV).

What’s your biggest problem?

Balancing work and family life? Lowering your cholesterol? Paying off the mortgage? Saving for retirement or the kids’ college?

Perhaps you battle more serious or even paralyzing problems: Cancer. A divorce. Bankruptcy.

From God’s perspective, your greatest problem is your separation from him. All your other problems pale in comparison because difficult as those problems may be, they are temporary; separation from God is eternal.

God has given you the gift of his Son. In Jesus and his cross, your sins are forgiven. God’s infinitely costly, yet totally free gift of forgiveness solves your most serious problem. Thanks be to God!

Do you still face problems in this life? Yes. And many of them are serious. Many have no easy solutions, and perhaps some have no solution at all in this life. But when the gift of God’s forgiveness stands at the center of our lives, we can have hope, no matter what happens. His forgiveness and love are our anchor.
