Promise Flying Disks – A Craft and Game, All in One!

By Gail Marsh

What You’ll Need

  • Paper plates, two for each child
  • Clear packing tape
  • Colorful markers
  • Safety scissors
  • Bibles

What You’ll Do

  • Give children two paper plates each, and have them use a marker to write their name along the edge of one plate, on the back.
  • Let students use scissors to cut a circle out from the center of each plate. (Assist as needed.)
  • Encourage the children to use markers to decorate the back sides of both paper plates.
  • Use tape to connect the plates (front sides together) so the decorated part is visible.

What You’ll Say

As children work, remind them: God keeps all of his promises. While you work, I’ll read some of God’s promises to you. As an alternative, help older students locate and read some of God’s promises from your Bible. Listen carefully and try to remember as many promises as you can.

  • God promised to send a Savior. He kept his promise and sent Jesus! (See Genesis 3:15.)
  • God promises to be with us always. He is keeping that promise! (See Joshua 1:9.)
  • God promises to give us peace. He is keeping that promise! (See Isaiah 54:10.)
  • God promises to give us wisdom. He is keeping that promise! (See James 1:5.)
  • God promises to hear our prayers. He is keeping that promise! (See 1 John 5:14.)
  • God promises to give us everything we need. He is keeping that promise! (See Philippians 4:19.)
  • God promises to give us eternal life. He is keeping that promise now and will also keep it when we live with him in heaven! (See Romans 6:23.)

As students finish their craft projects, encourage them to play with a partner, tossing and catching their disks. Each time they catch the disk, they can name one of God’s promises.

Editor’s note: Today’s craft and game is slightly adapted from the Moses section of Warriors of Faith 5-Part Kids Event Outline.
