Have you ever had a day when you felt so busy, so rushed, and so underappreciated that you wanted to curl up under your desk and hide? Working in God’s Kingdom is rarely easy - the bad days will surely come. But, do you know what’s the best way to get over a bad day? Getting encouragement from a fellow ministry worker!
Just a few simple words of encouragement from a fellow servant of God can work wonders. Consider the impact!
- Joann has been planning Sunday school lessons for hours. You call her to invite her out for a cup of coffee and some good conversation. Joann feels supported!
- Seth clears the church’s sidewalks every time it snows. He has to come out at 5 a.m. so he can get done before he goes to his day job. You write him a few words of praise and stick the note by the snow shovel. Seth feels appreciated!
- Sarah organizes all of the youth-group service opportunities. Last weekend, she lost her sunglasses while the group was cleaning up trash. You pick up a funny pair of sunglasses, write a heartfelt note, and leave the gift on her desk. Sarah feels like her service matters!
- Adam is really discouraged. He’s been leading the choir for years, but participation is dwindling. You grab a few others and invite Adam to a brainstorming session. Adam feels like he’s part of the team!
You see, all of these people needed a boost in their Christian service. There are probably situations like this every day in your ministry, you just can’t see them. This week, look for opportunities to support your co-workers and volunteers. Show them how much you appreciate the work they do in Jesus’ name!
