By CTA—Christ to All
What You’ll Need
- Glow-in-the-dark paints (available at your local craft store or online)
- Small-tip paintbrushes with long handles
- Jars with lids (any size, from baby-food up to pint canning jars)
- Stickers or other craft materials to decorate the jar lids
What You’ll Do
Cover the work space with protective paper or cardboard. Give each child a jar, paintbrush, and two or three different colors of paint. Demonstrate how to paint small dots on the inside of the jar—on the bottom and all around the sides. Small dots, placed close together work best.
While the paint dries, encourage the children to apply stickers to the lid of their jar or to decorate the lid in some other way.
What You’ll Say
We believe that Jesus, the Light of the World, is our Savior and Friend. Jesus helps us stay calm when troubles come. He gives us peace and strength when we feel weak. And we can be sure that Jesus is with us, no matter what happens.
Place your jar near a window during the daytime to absorb the light. At night, move the jar near your bed. As it glows during the night, let it remind you that Jesus, the Light of the World, is always with you!
Editor’s note: Glow-in-the-dark items are great for teaching the concept of Jesus as our Light in darkness of this world. For CTA’s ready-made glow-in-the-dark items, visit ctainc.com.
