Hosting an Easter egg hunt is a great outreach opportunity for your ministry. Gather the children in your church, be sure to invite the kids in your community, and have some fun! Here are a few tips to jump-start your planning:

  • Start your event with a quick devotion. CTA offers several Ministry Messages and they’re available for FREE download now! And, don’t forget to snap a few pictures of the group before the kids get started.
  • Are you ready to do something different this year? Stuff your eggs with tokens and let children use their tokens to “shop” at a prize table.
  • If you have a youth ministry at your church, set up a nighttime Easter egg hunt just for them. Put glow sticks inside the eggs or paint them with glow-in-the-dark paint. Tell each teen to bring a flashlight and a friend!
  • For a small group of kids, a Resurrection Day treasure hunt is perfect. Put clues inside the eggs. Or, have the children answer questions to earn the clues. Then, stash an Easter goodie bag for each child at the end of the hunt.
  • Print a Bible verse, word by word. Then, put one word in each egg. After all the eggs are gathered, challenge the children to put the words together in the correct order.
  • Create a Passion story egg hunt by stuffing eggs with a few specific items - a stone, a white cloth, a nail, and other relevant symbols that point to Jesus’ death and resurrection.
  • If you can gather a few extra volunteers, turn your Easter egg hunt into an hour-long outreach event. CTA offers three FREE event outlines to help you plan Bible time, snacks, games, and much more!
