5-Minute Games to Get the Wiggles Out

We’ve all been there: children arrive in your Sunday school classroom and they just can’t sit still!

Instead of trying to teach wiggling little kiddos, play a quick game at the beginning of class. Spend five minutes playing one of these games and your students will be ready to sit still for your Bible lesson.

Balloon Bounce Relay
You’ll need balloons.

Divide the children into teams and line them up in a single-file line. Blow up balloons and give one to each team. When you say “go,” the first child from each team should bounce the balloon on his or her head five times. Then, the next child should bounce the balloon on his or her head five times. The first team that has all children complete five head bounces wins!

Pass That Pumpkin!
You’ll need a plastic pumpkin, a cd player or smartphone to play music, and candy.

Seat players in a circle. Explain that when the music begins, players must pass the pumpkin to the person on their right. When the music stops, whoever has the pumpkin has to the count of five to grab a treat. Continue play until everyone has won a piece of candy.

Snowball Fight
You’ll need an empty table, a bowl, Ping-Pong balls, and cotton balls.

Place the bowl at one end of the table. Form two teams (or have two opponents face off). They should stand on opposite ends of the table. At your signal, someone from the team on the opposite end of the bowl must try to bounce a Ping-Pong ball into the bowl. While he or she attempts this, the other team (standing by the bowl) can toss cotton balls at the Ping-Pong ball to prevent success. Rotate players and teams so all children get a chance to play.
