Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! (Psalm 100:2ESV).
What is the Holy Spirit telling ME in this verse?
When/Where can I use this verse?
Who else needs to know what this verse says?
Why am I glad God invites me to do this?
How can we serve the Lord? Jesus doesn’t need us to play a game with him, but our little brother might. Jesus doesn’t need us to set the table for supper, but our dad might. Jesus doesn’t need us to bring groceries in from the car, but our mom might. We serve Jesus by serving the people around us.
(Distribute a paper with blanks, numbered 1–15, for each child to fill in. Leave space for children to add smiley faces where appropriate.)
Make a list of all the kind, helpful things you can do for the people around you.
Put a smiley face next to the things you can do gladly. Thank Jesus you are able and glad to do them. Look back at the ones without smiley faces. Ask Jesus to help you remember that when you do these things, you are serving him. Ask that you will be able to serve with gladness.
