Questions - free devotion for Lent

By Rodney L. Rathmann

But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons (Galatians 4:4–5 ESV).

Before beginning, read Matthew 22:41–45.

Sources attribute the popular catchphrase “That’s the $64,000 question” to a 1940s CBS radio show called Take It or Leave It. Contestants on this show answered increasingly difficult questions as the amount of prize money doubled with each new question.

Just days before his death on the cross, Jesus asks his listeners two “64,000 dollar” questions: “What do you think about the Christ? Whose son is he?” (Matthew 22:42 ESV). Then, referring to Scriptures, Jesus identifies the Messiah as David’s Son, being true man, and David’s Lord, being true God.

Yes, the Baby once born in a lowly manager is our King! What does it mean in your own life that Jesus is truly and fully both God and human?

Editor’s note: Today’s devotion comes from CTA’s brand-new prayer journal for the Lenten season, Crucified. Glorified. The journal takes readers through the six weeks leading up to Easter with a distinct focus on the things Jesus taught and experienced from Palm Sunday through Easter morning.
