The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise (Luke 24:7 ESV).
This week, many people around the world will gather for worship. Some will receive ashes, applied to their foreheads in the shape of a cross, as they hear the words, “For you are dust, and to dust you shall return” (Genesis 3:19 ESV). These words, spoken to Adam after he sinned in the Garden of Eden, remind us of our heritage of sin and death. But wait, there is Good News here! In Jesus’ cross we find forgiveness and a new, glory-filled identify. Today, think about what the totality of the Passion story—Jesus’ rejection, suffering, crucifixion, and resurrection—means for you.
