(Before beginning, read Matthew 24:36–51.)
Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life (Revelation 2:10 ESV).
It is said that we show our true selves by the things we do when we no one is watching. To Christians, this means we remain obedient and faithful to Jesus even as those around us live to satisfy their selfish, self-centered longings. Too often, though, we succumb to the same temptations as those around us. Even so, our Savior freely offers us the forgiveness he won for us on Calvary’s cross. Just as surely as he defeated death that very first Resurrection Day, so, too, he will strengthen us to live for him as we await his coming again. Today, write down your thoughts about faith, forgiveness, and the “crown of life” Jesus has waiting for you.
Editor’s note: Today’s devotion comes from CTA’s brand-new prayer journal for the Lenten season, Crucified. Glorified. In this theme, you’ll find the gifts and resources you need to lead worshipers in deep reflection as they prepare for Easter.
