When [Jesus] had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight (Acts 1:9 ESV).
An amazing adventure was about to begin. Jesus’ holy life, his teaching, his passion, his death and resurrection had changed everything. The doors of heaven now stood open wide! Yet so few human beings knew that.
The Lord’s love gripped the disciples’ hearts. His victory over death boggled their minds. His authority to forgive all sin flooded their souls with thankfulness. His promise to return set them ablaze with zeal.
In ten short days, the Holy Spirit would fall on them, indwell them, transform them. And then he would use their witness to transform the world.
Still today, the doors of heaven stand open wide because Jesus died and rose again. Does his love grip your heart and fire your imagination?
If not, lean confidently into your Savior’s forgiveness. Ask him to fill you with a fresh measure of his Holy Spirit.
Prayer starter: Lord, I want to play my part in the adventure you started when you died and rose again . . .
